Leave space to the right of the MC number

Michigan Secretary of State guidance places the watercraft registration decal about three inches to the right of, and in line with, the MC numbers. Show that reserved space on both side proofs before approving replacement lettering. Provide a photograph with the bow direction marked, the assigned registration text and a physical measurement of the available area. Do not infer the spacing from a cropped photograph that omits the existing decal.

Michigan’s watercraft decal page explains the state renewal process. Renewing the official decal and replacing damaged custom vinyl characters are different tasks. Check which item you need before starting an order: a new vinyl number set does not renew your registration, and a state renewal does not supply a new decorative boat name. Use the Secretary of State service for the official transaction. For custom lettering, provide only the production information needed for the proof; do not send payment credentials or identity documents with artwork.

Label the boat’s MC registration as watercraft lettering in the order notes. List trailer business graphics, unit numbers and any carrier identifiers separately rather than combining every identifier in a single text field. The boat and trailer have different surfaces and available areas. For a matching visual identity, provide the shared logo once and then specify each object’s dimensions, colors and quantities. Keep decorative artwork clear of the registration display area and check current official requirements before approving the boat layout.

For work trucks or service trailers, identify the exact side and panel being replaced. Include the previous proof version if available and note changes to phone numbers, services or unit identifiers. A photographed color is not a reliable material specification: ask the team to confirm the proposed vinyl or printed construction against the earlier order. If the replacement must match an aged graphic, discuss that limitation before approving production. Group each vehicle’s pieces together on the packing list so installers do not mix similar unit numbers.
