Ask for a dimensioned Minnesota lettering proof
Minnesota Rule 6110.0300 specifies more than character height for watercraft subject to its number-display requirements. It sets block characters at least three inches high, strokes from one-half to three-fourths inch wide excluding borders, three-to-four-inch gaps between letter and numeral groups, and one-half-to-three-fourths-inch spacing within groups. It places the current validation decal toward the stern within four inches of the first or last letter on each side. Review the rule’s scope and exceptions with the authority before selecting an order.
Verify the measurements outside the screen preview
Supply the assigned text and ask the artwork reviewer to mark character height, stroke width, internal spacing and group gaps on a physical-size proof. Measure the available area on both sides of the vessel rather than assuming they match. The online lettering preview is a specification tool, not a Minnesota compliance calculator, and changing its overall width may change several measurements at once. If the required arrangement does not fit your chosen location, resolve the layout before releasing production.

PROJECT BRIEF.
Preserve required warning labels during a graphics refresh
Minnesota DNR’s Sophia’s Law guidance requires three CO warning stickers for gasoline-powered motorboats with an enclosed occupancy compartment, at the helm, the compartment entrance or inside it, and the aft boarding or stern area. It identifies approved labels that satisfy the requirement. Check the full guidance for your boat before covering or removing existing labels. Decorative vinyl is not a substitute for an approved warning label, and this graphics checklist does not replace the separate detector and safety requirements.
Map the areas that must remain visible
Before a boat-name change or decorative wrap, photograph existing identification and safety-label locations and mark them on the artwork layout. Keep those areas separate from the decorative panel map. For a mixed order, give each boat its own proof and identify any differences in vessel type or applicable requirements; do not replicate one layout across the group without review. Keep race numbers and sponsor marks in their own files so they cannot be mistaken for a vessel registration identifier.
Coordinate fleet pieces and receiving instructions
For Minnesota contractor or fleet graphics, provide a separate vehicle list with approved company wording, applicable identifiers, dimensions and quantities. Assign an artwork revision to every layout and list replacement pieces individually. If an installer will receive printed wrap panels, have that installer approve measurements, panel boundaries and overlap. Supply the destination ZIP code and receiving contact, then request quote-confirmed materials, freight and production timing. Products ship nationwide with installation arranged separately; saving a configuration does not complete checkout or reserve a delivery date.
