Keep the AIS pass receipt out of the decal order

Montana FWP says nonresident watercraft launching in the state need a Vessel AIS Prevention Pass, subject to the listed vessel exceptions. Proof is an electronic or paper receipt; there is no pass decal. The pass expires December 31 and cannot move between vessels. Check the agency’s applicability guidance and purchase process for the actual craft. Do not add a made-up AIS sticker to a custom graphics order or treat a printed logo as evidence of payment.

Plan the inspection independently of the graphics delivery

FWP requires incoming watercraft to be inspected before launch and directs operators to stop at all open inspection stations they encounter. Its guidance also identifies special decontamination requirements for boats with ballast or bladders. Review the instructions while planning the trip. A completed lettering job, package receipt or installation appointment does not satisfy an inspection requirement, and the graphics quote does not authorize launching the boat.

PROJECT BRIEF.

Make two lists for a travelling boat

Keep a travel-document list separate from the artwork list. The first belongs with the owner and agency process; the second should identify the exact custom characters, boat name, decorative panels or replacement logos being requested. Add an asset identifier to each artwork file so a receipt for one boat is never used to infer the text for another. Supply the confirmed registration wording where numbers are needed, and omit private payment or account information from the artwork attachments.

Check the tow rig and boat as separate surfaces

A matching logo can connect the appearance of a boat, tow vehicle and trailer without forcing them into one layout. Measure each usable panel and photograph obstructions such as rails, doors and fittings. For a contractor fleet, provide approved company wording and applicable carrier identifiers for each road vehicle. For a race team, attach the current sponsor and number instructions to the correct asset. Identify which pieces will be installed before travel and which will be held for a later refresh so quantities and proofs remain clear.

Confirm where the graphics kit will be received

Provide the Montana destination ZIP code, receiving contact and any travel deadline for quote review. Decide whether the owner or independent installer will inspect the package contents. Printed wraps need installer-approved panel sizes, seams and overlap before production; surface preparation and installation are arranged separately. Ask the reviewer to confirm material availability, freight and production timing for that receiving plan. Saving or exporting the configuration records the proposed specifications and does not complete payment, confirm an inspection or commit to an arrival date.
