Record the registration state and the actual waterbody
NDOW describes specific AIS decal purchase exemptions: Arizona-registered vessels on Lake Mead, Lake Mohave and the lower Colorado River, and California-registered vessels on Lake Tahoe and Topaz Lake. The agency limits these exceptions to registered vessels on the named waters. Do not treat an out-of-state registration as a statewide exemption. Record the planned destination and verify the current agency guidance before deciding which official items belong on the boat.
Keep paddle craft and inspection records separate
NDOW says those interstate exemptions do not extend to unregistered craft such as canoes and kayaks capable of retaining water. It also explains that an AIS decal is not evidence that a craft is mussel-free. For a mixed fleet, record the craft type and official decal decision separately from any inspection documentation. Custom graphics do not provide an AIS permit, inspection or exemption; obtain official items from the responsible program.

PROJECT BRIEF.
Use a trip record instead of reusing an old assumption
Create one row for each asset with its registration jurisdiction, intended waters, planned use dates and the person responsible for checking agency requirements. Keep a link to the guidance reviewed and a place to note the resulting decision. Revisit that row when an itinerary changes. Beside it, maintain a separate artwork list containing the custom number set, name, logo or identification labels requested. This separates travel planning from production approval and helps the reviewer see which pieces are ordinary graphics and which areas must remain available for official items.
Plan the graphics around the items already on the hull
Send clear photographs of both sides, showing existing identifiers and official decals rather than only the empty panel. Mark the measured application area and flag any planned removal or repainting. Request a material review before assuming the same vinyl will work on every hull in the fleet. Keep trailer identifiers, contractor branding and truck company or applicable USDOT text in separate proof records. If the order includes race graphics, attach the current number and sponsor instructions instead of borrowing the boat’s asset labels.
Package the quote for the receiving crew
For each custom piece, list the asset, side, dimensions, quantity and approved artwork revision. Separate spare pieces from initial installation kits and name the person who will check the shipment. Printed vehicle-wrap orders need the independent installer’s panel and overlap specifications before production. Include the Nevada destination ZIP code and confirm materials, production timing and freight during quote review. Installation is arranged separately. Exporting the configuration can preserve the order worksheet, but it does not complete payment, book an inspection or set an arrival date.
