Check documented-vessel storage as well as operating days
New Jersey MVC says a documented vessel must be registered in New Jersey when operated there for more than 180 days, or when the owner maintains non-transient storage, mooring or servicing space there. Documented vessels do not receive New Jersey titles. The storage condition matters independently of counting days underway. Confirm the applicable registration and marking instructions with MVC before commissioning a new graphics package.
Prepare the project record
Prepare a documented-vessel intake sheet with its documentation status, intended use and storage arrangement. Ask the owner to resolve the registration outcome before supplying final production text. Keep federal documentation information, any state-issued items and the decorative vessel name in separate fields. A marina address on a quote is not enough information for a designer to decide registration obligations. Send a complete side and stern photograph so the reviewer can plan custom graphics around the identifiers and decals the owner confirms must remain visible.

Coordinate related graphics
For a marina or service-business fleet, record which party approves legal identifiers and which party approves branding. A repair yard may receive the shipment without being authorized to change the owner’s vessel name or registration text. Include installation dimensions, material concerns and any removal work in the quote. Related contractor vehicles and trailers need their own approved company and carrier wording. Package each asset’s pieces separately so a shared receiving desk can distribute the right kit without reading private registration paperwork.
Confirm the quote before production
Send the New Jersey delivery ZIP code, recipient, quantities and approved artwork with your quote request. Materials, production timing and freight are confirmed during review. Installation is arranged separately; printed vehicle-wrap panels need the independent installer’s dimensions and overlap instructions. Saving or exporting a configuration preserves specifications but does not complete payment, obtain official documents or set an arrival date. Check current agency guidance before approving any regulated markings.
