WHAT TO CHECK.
BEFORE YOU ORDER.
Start with the researched considerations for your project. National rules remain national; your registration jurisdiction may differ from your shipping destination.
Check the operating area before copying credential text
The New York Attorney General identifies local home-improvement contractor licensing requirements, including New York City and several counties, and links to the relevant authorities. That is a reason to check the jurisdictions where your business works before copying a credential line from another contractor’s truck. Supply the exact business name and credential information you intend to use. Ask the applicable authority about advertising requirements for your work; this hub does not establish one statewide lettering rule.
Create a jurisdiction and vehicle worksheet
For a fleet working across more than one area, make a worksheet with the vehicle identifier, operating areas, approved business name and any credential text the responsible person has confirmed. Keep the authority or office that verified the information in your internal records. Do not replace different credentials with an unexplained generic license number. The artwork reviewer needs the final wording, while the business remains responsible for deciding which credentials and claims apply. Review this worksheet whenever the business name, services or operating area changes.

PROJECT BRIEF.
Keep required identifiers readable within the design
Prepare separate proof fields for marketing copy, contractor credentials and carrier identifiers where applicable. Start with the actual lettering area around handles, windows, trim and panel gaps. A logo that fits on a van may not leave the same usable space on a pickup door. Send photographs with measured dimensions, and check each proof at its intended output size. If a design revision shortens the service list or changes a phone number, review the identifier fields again rather than assuming they remained intact.
Control alternate layouts and replacement pieces
Use a named artwork revision for each approved vehicle layout, especially when one fleet uses several body styles. Label the left and right pieces and specify whether the order contains individual decals, paired door sets or complete kits. For a damaged panel, request only the pieces needed and attach the earlier approved proof when available. Boat registration lettering and race numbers should be separate order items with their own assigned text or series instructions; a contractor-vehicle layout is not a template for either product.
Plan the handoff to a receiving shop
For New York shipments, provide the destination ZIP code, business or installer contact and a package list grouped by vehicle. Tell the team about receiving arrangements that may affect delivery, and request confirmed freight and timing with the quote. For printed wrap panels, the installer must approve dimensions, bleed, overlap and orientation before production. Installation is arranged separately. A saved design or configuration export organizes specifications; it does not approve a credential, complete a purchase or guarantee an arrival date.
