Covered vehicles generally show the legal name or one trade name listed in the FMCSA record, plus the assigned number preceded by USDOT.

Readable Lettering Style

Federal rules do not mandate one font. Use clean letterforms, adequate spacing and strong contrast to support legibility from 50 feet.

Optional Regulatory Lines

MC, GVW, unit number, phone, website, city and state can be added, but keep optional information separate from core identification.
